August 26th – Recovery and Packing Up Day

After a long day and a late night yesterday, today was definitely a day to relax and recover.

These kids can’t stay up late anymore!

We spent most of the day reading, napping, watching movies and slowly starting to gather up all of our stuff. Tomorrow we leave Ballinskelligs and start the next part of our adventure.

It’s amazing how much stuff four people can scatter around a house in a week! Every time you think you’ve gathered everything, you find something else in another room.

We had dinner reservations at Driftwood Surf Café, a local favorite with a spectacular view overlooking St. Finian’s Bay and Skellig Michael. After seeing Skellig Michael up close just a few days ago, it was pretty special sitting there looking back out at it from across the water.

Dinner was delicious, the view was beautiful and it was a nice relaxing way to spend our last evening in the area.

After dinner, we headed back toward the cottage.

Well… almost.

There was one more stop we needed to make.

We couldn’t leave Ballinskelligs without one last visit to Tig Rosie’s for our final whiskeys and beers on this part of the Wild Atlantic Way. And, of course, we couldn’t leave without getting a picture with our dear Rosie. ❤️

What started out as just a little pub down the road from our cottage ended up being one of our favorite places here. Good drinks, great music and, most importantly, some really wonderful people.

Then it really was back to the cottage to finish packing and get some sleep.

Tomorrow we say goodbye to Ballinskelligs and head for Dingle.

We’ll see what kind of trouble we can get ourselves into on the next part of our County Kerry adventure!

See you down the road!
