August 24th – A Quiet Day at the Cottage

Not every day on vacation needs to be an adventure!

After our trip out to Skellig Michael yesterday—and those 618 steps—we were all pretty tired and more than ready for a leisurely day around the cottage.

We had a nice relaxing morning, made some breakfast and decided it was a good day to take advantage of having a washer and dryer and get everything clean and ready for the second half of our trip.

As luck would have it, the washer worked just fine.

The dryer? Not so much.

Thankfully, there was a clothesline outside, and honestly, what a treat that turned out to be. There’s nothing quite like clothes and sheets dried outside in the fresh air, especially here in the Irish countryside. Everything smelled wonderful.

So that was pretty much our excitement for the day—breakfast, laundry, hanging clothes on the line, folding everything and getting ourselves reorganized for the next part of the trip.

By the time we finished, it was late enough in the day that we decided we’d earned dinner out.

We headed into town and picked a spot called Frank’s Bistro Bar, which is housed in an old pub. Imagine that—an old pub in Ireland!

We all had delicious meals, enjoyed a couple of cocktails, and had a nice relaxing dinner.

Afterward, it was a quiet drive back to the cottage and we were in for the night.

Nothing terribly exciting today, but sometimes a day with nowhere you have to be and nothing you have to do is exactly what you need on vacation.

Tomorrow is another day—and this one has a few more things on the agenda!

See you down the road!
